Archiving & Deleting Projects

When a project is complete or no longer needed, you can archive or delete it. Choose the right option based on whether you might need the project data again.

Archiving a Project

What it does: Archiving makes a project read-only and hides it from your active projects list. The project and all its data (documents, conversations, notes) are preserved.

When to use it: When a project is complete but you want to keep the documents and conversations accessible for reference.

How to Archive

  1. Go to Project Settings → Danger Zone.
  2. Click Archive.
  3. Confirm the action in the dialog.

You can also archive from the projects list by hovering over a project card and clicking Archive.

Deleting a Project

What it does: Permanently deletes the project and all associated data, including documents, conversations, AI memories, and notes. This action cannot be undone.

When to use it: When you no longer need the project or its data at all, or when you need to free up a project slot on your plan.

How to Delete

  1. Go to Project Settings → Danger Zone.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Type the exact project name in the confirmation field.
  4. Click Delete Project.

The name confirmation step prevents accidental deletion. You must type the project name exactly as it appears.

You can also delete from the projects list by hovering over a project card and clicking Delete.

Comparison

Archive Delete
Data preserved ✅ Yes ❌ No
Reversible ✅ Yes ❌ No
Frees project slot ✅ Yes ✅ Yes
Hidden from active list ✅ Yes N/A (removed)

Recommendation: When in doubt, archive instead of delete. You can always delete an archived project later if you’re sure you don’t need it.
