Built at the start of the job, so mock-ups are priced, scheduled and reviewed before the work they govern goes into fabrication.
What you get
- Ref and category – Structure, exterior, interior, mechanical & electrical, site / landscape and restoration, numbered E-1, I-1 and so on.
- Description – Size or extent, the components and interfaces it must show, any test it must pass, and whether it can remain in the work.
- Source – Specified, shown on the drawings, or builder recommended, with the section and paragraph or the drawing and detail.
- Mock-up type – Design finalization, QA/QC, or one-off.
- Location and required before – Where it is built, by which trades, and the condition it has to meet, like “before fabrication of window wall units”.
How it works
- The agent inventories the specs, drawings and schedule, and reads 01 43 39 Mock-ups first where the project has it.
- It agrees coverage, whether to add builder-recommended mock-ups, and the order with you.
- It works one division group at a time and shows you each group before moving on.
- As mock-ups are built, it records the dates and comments you give it.
- It reports counts by category and source, the mock-ups that gate long-lead fabrication, and the sections that call for a mock-up with no location or size.
Try asking
- Build a mockup log for the envelope, 07 and 08 first. Add any you’d recommend.
- Which mock-ups have to be approved before the window wall goes into fabrication?
- The brick mock-up was approved on the 3rd, update the log.
